PATIENT & STAFF SCREENING
I ask that any patient experiencing any COVID or flu-like symptoms (cough, sore throat, fever, shortness of breath, loss of taste or smell) or if you have been in contact with anyone that has been diagnosed with COVID-19, contact me right away to cancel your appointment. There will be no late cancellation fee.

LIMITED OFFICE CAPACITY
I am carefully limiting the number of individuals in the office at all times.

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT (PPE) & ARRIVAL
Face masks are optional for patients and if requested, I will wear an N95 mask. Upon arrival, hand sanitizer is available. I will bring you right into your treatment room to minimize interaction in the waiting room.

ENHANCED SANITATION MEASURES
I have implemented strict cleaning procedures to ensure surfaces and key touch-points are disinfected throughout the day and after each patient. All of the cleaning products we use are approved by the CDC and EPA as protective to Coronavirus (Sars-Cov-2). Between each appointment, rooms will be thoroughly disinfected, table covers will be changed, and all hard surfaces will be cleaned. I have always washed and sanitized my hands before, during and after each patient interaction, as well as each hour, and this practice will be continued. There are HEPA filters in the waiting room and treatment room. I also have an ozone purifier that I turn on for 15 minutes between each patient which instantly disinfects air and all surfaces.

CLEANLINESS: AN ORIGINAL PRIORITY
We have always prided ourselves on creating an inviting, peaceful environment at Functional Wellness— and part of what makes it an oasis for healing is the fact that it is always clean and safe. This was the case even before COVID-19. Our linens are laundered in hypoallergenic soap and bleach to make sure they are fresh and completely contaminant-free. Our medical waste (mainly acupuncture needles) is always disposed of properly. I always wash and sanitize my hands before and after each treatment, as well as each hour.

ACUPUNCTURE SAFETY
As a licensed acupuncturist, I am required by Florida State to pass an exam in Clean Needle Technique. I studied these vital practices in graduate school and I have always applied them to every single patient interaction since earning my acupuncture license in 2000. This hasn’t changed with COVID-19. At Functional Wellness I only use sterile, single-use acupuncture needles, which I dispose of safely as medical waste after each treatment. I always swab the body with alcohol before inserting a needle. Each treatment room is organized and clean, as you’d expect for any medical procedure.
